1. Field Methods for Geospatial Science I: GPS and GIS tools

This 1‐credit course aims to help students to master the basic skills for geo‐referencing field observations, photos, data and interviews, and incorporating them into reports and thesis as well as web sites for data sharing and communication. Students will learn how to use Global Positioning System (GPS) and mobile Geographical Information System (GIS) tools, to integrate GPS/GIS with digital camera and notebook computer for field trips and site visits. The course is composed of lecture, field trip for data collection (e.g., taking field photos), computer laboratory, and student’s presentation. This course is designed for both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in using geospatial technology in their study, research and tour.
